Dear Friends,
It is now 4am Friday morning. I write these lines, sitting at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport, on my way home to Switzerland. It has been a very short visit of a day and half on the occasion of the wedding of our dear friends, Marc and Anette Kremer. It was a very happy and wonderful wedding celebration. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them both a hearty Mazal Tov, and best wishes for a happy life together.
Directly from the wedding, I came to the airport, and now after checking in and after buying some presents for my children (which was not so simple...), I have some time to sit and think about the happenings around me.
It is hard to imagine a more extreme contrast, a sharper transition between the atmospheres of Switzerland and that of Israel. Heat and humidity, endless traffic jams urban congestion in Tel Aviv, accompanied by an exercise of alarms, police scans after suspected terrorists, are a perfect contrast to the cool, quiet, wonderful landscapes and the calm, polite and famous Swiss precision.
Thinking about it I realized that in life, whatever you do, these 2 elements are both important. Our job is to combine them in the right measure.
I'm happy to be going back to quiet Switzerland with some energy from Israel.
Oops, they are boarding :),
See you all very soon,
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Chaim
