How many times have you coincidently met someone you know whose car broke down and he needed your help?
I live in Switzerland for the last nine years and it has never happened to me. The surprise occurrence I had last week while visiting Jerusalem in the dark hours of the night, was without a doubt Divine providence…
I stopped my rental car at a gas station at the exit of the city. It was very late at night, but the place was still filled with people. An absolutely normal thing in Jerusalem, and especially during the holiday season.
After filling up my car with gas, I go into the shop to buy some refreshments. And… look at that , inside the tiny gas station shop I meet one of our friends who live here in the Luzern area. What a nice surprise, but it happens. We quickly exchange a few words and say goodbye.
I walk outside the shop and start walking back to my car, when I see a car which has broken down on the side with a flat tire, and it seems that the driver needs some help. I’m not the right person at all to repair flat tires, but I go over anyways, maybe I can still be of help. And then… I don’t believe my eyes… this man, whose car is stuck, is also fellow Jew living in Luzern.
To meet two different people within 2 minutes, at a gas station at the edge of Jerusalem, who are both my “neighbors” in Switzerland, this was for me astonishing Divine Providence.
May we all meet in Jerusalem very soon!
